Justin Timberlake is tripping. No really, he said so.
While in Austin to headline a surprise show at South by Southwest, the singer told MySpace that while this was his first time at SXSW, it was not his first time attending a music festival. “I’ve been to Coachella many times,” he said. “On many different, um, substances.”
It’s no secret that the former *NSYNC star is a fan of illegal drugs — heck, half the lyrics on his new album, “The 20/20 Experience” are a reference to marijuana — but this is the first time the newly-married man has openly talked about other substances.
He goes on to say “I remember I used to go to Coachella a long time ago. I remember Coachella when there wasn’t, like, paparazzi and stuff there. Like, I stood in an open field and one year I saw Nine Inch Nails and the next year I saw Weezer, and I was standing in the middle of the field, you know, like tripping my mind out.”
We’re going to give our favorite boy bander the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he just means he tripped on something while in the field. It’s possible.

Justin Timberlake’s new album The 20/20 Experience is now on a pace to sell a whopping 800,000 copies during its first week on sale, which ends March 24th. Billboard reports that 20/20 is expected to top its albums chart, which would make it Timberlake’s second Number One solo album. (His first solo album, 2002′s Justified, peaked at Number Two.)
The growing sales count will also score Timberlake his best sales week ever, topping the 684,000 copies his previous LP, 2006′s FutureSex/LoveSounds, moved during its debut week. The biggest sales seem to be coming through iTunes, with Target – the only retailer carrying a deluxe version of the album with two exclusive bonus tracks – also quickly moving its stock.
With original estimates placing sales at around 500,000, the album is now on track to become 2013′s best selling record, surpassing Mumford & Son’s Babel, which despite its 2012 release, has sold 631,000 copies so far. (Coincidentally, Timberlake and Marcus Mumford recently collaborated on new music for the Coen brothers’ upcoming film about the 1960s folk scene, Inside Llewyn Davis, which co-stars Timberlake.)
Should 20/20 live up to these new estimates, it would mark the biggest sales debut for a male artist since 2010 when Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV pushed 964,000 its first week. Taylor Swift was the last artist to sell more than 750,000 copies, when her 2012 effort Red bowed at Number one with 1.2 million sold its first week.

The 20/20 Experience hit stores on Tuesday and if you haven’t gotten already, do so as it’s such an amazing album, I got so emotional listening to it – I missed his music so, so much. =) Apparently there will be a 2nd part to be released in November (according to iheartradio Twitter) to look forward to!
And with a new album comes much promotion, and Justin has done a lot of it this past week. I have added some pictures to the gallery with more to come, including scans from the album!

Craving a fun, crazy, wild, sexual ride? That’s exactly what Justin Timberlake delivered as he hosted Saturday Night Live for the fifth time Saturday. Facing high expectations going into the evening, Timberlake more than lived up to the hype during his duties. Not only did the multi-hyphenate revive old characters, like his “D**k in a Box” lady-killer and OmeletteVille shiller, Timberlake also headlined some entertaining new sketches. He posed as temporarily chaste Emperor Caligula, starred in a fictional romantic comedy trailer, made an appearance in a Moet & Chandon commercial, and performed two of his hit new songs.
But, there was more. SNL also inducted Timberlake into the “Five-Timers Club” and upon entering, he greeted by some more than A-List celebrity names like Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, and more. Oh yeah, and Jay-Z even made an appearance during one of Timberlake’s performances. If SNL was trying to make us forget the series’ past subpar three months, it certainly succeeded.
